In this workshop we will cover the 3 components of the nervous system that control our balance (vision, vestibular, proprioception) and how to use specific exercises to focus on the various skills of each of these systems. We will provide movement cues and anatomical demonstrations to improve how to find and use your skeletal structure to improve your ability to maintain or regain your balance, as well as how to anticipate a loss of balance. Whether you have difficulty with balance now, or want to be proactive to prevent difficulties, or are looking for advanced ways to enhance your balance reactions, this workshop can help.

Additionally, we will cover self-massage, relaxation techniques for the eyes, and facial muscle movements to reduce tone in the head, neck and face.
$30 / workshop.
December 10, 2024 | 5:30pm - 7 pm OR December 14, 2024 | 1pm - 2:30pm

January 7th 5:30 pm - 7 pm
$30 / workshop.
In this workshop we will explore some clever means to create movement at the base of the neck, where the origin of neck pain and stiffness begins, using the arms, shoulders and spine to improve posture, mobility and comfort.

In this workshop we will practice getting up from the floor without the use of furniture, using a technique designed to reduce pressure on the knees and back. We will practice moving from flat on the back, to rolling to your side, from your side to hands and knees, before coming to upright standing. This sequence requires a variety of movements common to daily living and having this skill promotes independence and confidence. Whether you want to get down on the floor with the grandchildren or if you have concerns about your ability to get off the floor following a fall, this workshop can help.
